Welcome To Passport Seva
A passport is an important document for anyone who wants to travel outside India for studies, tourism, business, medical reasons, pilgrimage, or to visit family members. In the past few years, as more Indians have started travelling abroad, the need for passport services has increased quickly, not just in big cities but in smaller towns as well. To make the process easier and more accessible, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) introduced the Passport Seva Project (PSP) in May 2010. Through this project, the MEA provides passport services across the country with the help of 37 Passport Offices in India and 190 Indian Missions and Posts abroad. The project runs in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for technical support, while all important tasks like verification, approval, and issuing of passports remain under the direct control of the MEA. The main aim of Passport Seva is to offer a simple, transparent, and efficient system that connects police verification, Aadhaar-based checks, and secure delivery into one smooth digital process.

What is Passport Seva Project (PSP)?
The Passport Seva Project (PSP) is an initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to make passport services easier, faster, and more citizen-friendly across India. It was launched in May 2010 to modernize the old, slow, and mostly manual passport process. Under this project, the entire system has been upgraded with digital technology so that people can apply online, get updates quickly, and receive services in a smoother way. The project runs in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which manages the technical operations, while important tasks like document verification, approval, and issuing of passports remain fully with the MEA. PSP also connects different departments such as State Police for verification, India Post for secure delivery, and UIDAI for Aadhaar-based checks. Overall, the Passport Seva Project aims to provide a simple, transparent, and efficient experience to every citizen.
